In 1996 Earth's Environmental Experts was born out of a desire to be able to find environmental experts quickly. We were getting many enquiries from consultancies and solicitors wanting to know who they could get technical assistance from for particular projects. In some cases there were requirements for language skills and experience in a particular country. We realised there was a need for an international database that could be searched by specialisation, language skills and countries that the person had worked in.
The 3E Database is managed by Dr Phil Smith, who also runs a small environmental consultancy in the UK (Aquatonics Ltd). The original concept was developed by Phil with technical assistance from Andy Carpenter and Andrew Ford and was hosted by the Natural History Book Service server. In 1998/99 the 3E website and database was extensively upgraded and modified by Tim Smith of Zynet. Zynet are based in Exeter (UK) and specialise in internet solutions for businesses. Together we are developing the 3E Database so that it meets the needs of its members and those who need to find environmental experts.
The prime aim of the 3E Database is to improve the quality of environmental studies by helping people locate a suitable expert.

Please note that the phrase 3E is only intended as an abbreviation for Earth's Environmental Experts. We have no links with other companies around the world who trade under the name 3E.
